It's been 5 weeks!

Baby #2 is now a reality for 5 weeks, and these 5 weeks were filled with drama, laughters and tears. Is 1+1 =2 or 1+1 =10? I think it is latter in case of having children. Maybe other parents who have 3 or 4 would laugh at us but nothing prepared us for what had happened. While the sweet Sara is asleep, I finally have time to think about what that whirlwind journey was.

The birthing of Sara was a pleasant experience. We arrived at the hospital at 1pm, and Sara came out at 2:50pm on a sunny Thursday afternoon with beautiful spring like weather. It only took 4 pushes and she was out, we were all thinking she would be smaller than her brother, but she surprised us with a whopping 8lb 12 oz. Rick was getting teary and sure enough there are 4 of us now. The delivery was the easy part, the recovery took a long time, partly due to my old age, I guess. 3 trips to the ER later, we finally got a rest. 1st trip, I had a scary hemorrhage, they gave me some pills and sent us home. 2nd trip, Sara had blood in her stool, they think she's allegic to dairy because I had some yogurt. 3rd trip, Sara had more blood in her stool a week later, they think I had a piece of chocolate. We were so worried and scared, the docs poked at her and sent us home with an advice that mommy cut out all traces of dairy. Luckily, it is all behind us now, so hopefully she will not have another such episode. Despite all that, Sara's thriving and is now 11+lbs,maybe 12. She's a little easier than her brother while he was at her age. But she's still attached to me almost 24 hours a day. I guess that's why they called it bonding. :-)

Jeremy's generally OK, Rick has spent more time with him than before, and he's enjoying trips to the park, museums and getting new books and toys. Jeremy still misses mom, and would climb on mom's back while I am nursing. That really makes me feel like a tree with 2 monkeys on me, one in front and one on my back.

PoPo has been a great help so was the postpartum nanny. Mommy's test would come when Popo goes back to NYC in mid April. Ah, the ups and downs of parenthood. I am sure all of these will pass and we would look back and laugh at these moments. Next challenge, find Jeremy a new school and find Sara a good nanny before mommy goes back to work in July. One baby step at a time.

Nice story. This is why I like blog better than Facebook. You could look back at this easily to relive the moment. Congratulations again.

P.S. 1+1=100
