Roaring Camp

On Sunday of this past weekend, we drove about 45 minutes south to ride on the Roaring Camp steam train through some of California's famous redwood trees. Jeremy loves trains - they're his favorite toy - and he especially loves riding them. The only "real train" we have done so far is Caltrain (commuter train I take to work in the summer). This is a different experience altogether. It's one of few working steam trains in the country and "looks like a train". At least looks like Jeremy's Thomas trains. He was thrilled - until of course he fell asleep on the way back. The video of him running really does warm my heart. He gets so excited on our way to the station. Having a little 4 year old get so excited by something relatively simple somehow makes me happy. He's in such a "discovery" mode - brings out the youth in parents too!

Watching the train couple to the cars and pull in.
A self portrait on board.
