Hello all. We have returned from our 5 day "Tour of California". However, instead of the Tour de France type race that is going on in Cali right now, we used our Grand Cherokee. The quick itinerary - drive from Mountain View to Paso Robles wine country and stay in a B&B with a hot springs jacuzzi. Do some wine tasting and take in the local flavor. From there, further south with a short stop in Santa Barbara to walk the downtown area and grab a snack. From Santa Barbara, through LA without stopping into San Diego. Stayed 2 nights in San Diego to visit with close friends (where we stayed) and see the San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park. Return trip had us stop in Laguna Beach (maybe my favorite place in all of California) to have lunch, walk the art district a little and let Jeremy play on the playground overlooking Laguna Beach and the Pacific Ocean. Drive further north to Solvang to stay at another B&B. Solvang is dead center of "Sideways" country. We even ate 1 table away from where the movie was filmed at the Hitching Post. In my only act of defiance to the movie, however, I did NOT order the now inflated price Pinot Noir. Here's just a sample of pics from our trip.

Our southbound travel companions in downtown Santa Barbara.

Enjoying a hot springs jacuzzi, a bottle of Syrah and the internet. Silicon Valley types on vacation!

As soon as we step into our hotel in Paso, Jeremy had book withdrawal. He found this chair and started his book within 3 minutes of being in the room.

The Koi pond got everyone's attention (except Pam's) in Paso Robles on the way to San Diego.

Hmm...It seems every vacation involves a winery.
