Wine country

For those of you only interested in Jeremy, you can skip right over this update until the next one. Our good friends (who formerly lived in California and whom we are trying to recruit back) are staying with us this week for vacation. Pam and I both have Thursday and Friday off and we thought we'd treat ourselves to some adult fun and still send JC to daycare for these days. It's the first time since he was born that we've had an entire two days (well from 8AM to 5PM) to our "adult" selves. What better way to spend it then get smashed on wine?!? After dropping JC off at school, we stopped by the donut shop for coffee and donuts and started the drive up to Napa county. We dropped the girls off at the outlet mall for some Ann Taylor shopping, and Randy and I headed to the first winery. Like a sucker, I signed up for the wine club in the first 10 minutes of the first winery I stepped into. I guess I just got caught up in the moment. Discounted wine though and no annual fee!!

Picked the wives back up and drove a few minutes north into Yountville for lunch. Although expensive, the French bistro we found was great. Pastas, steak tartare and a few moules later (with of course glasses of Pinot Noir) and we were off to another winery. This one was a little more commercialized than the first but specialized in sparkling wines (which, by the way, the bottle we walked away with will go great with dinner tomorrow night).

We wanted to hit a 3rd winery but reality set in and we had to rush back to pick up the little guy. We certainly had a great day pretending to be childless for a few hours but on the way home our true, new colors showed.......Pam and I were fighting over who should pick up Jeremy. We both missed him so much during the day that each one of us wanted to be the first face he saw.

After coming to a draw, we both decided to go pick him up. And it paid off - the exciting smile he gives us when we walk through the door and sees his two favorite people will last a lifetime.
