Happy Birthday!

Rick's first birthday as a daddy went like this: these two work stiffs didn't finish work till 6:30pm, my mom was kind enough to volunteer babysitting so that we can go out for a dinner. This is only the first time we had the chance for a dinner for two. We rushed out the door in lightning speed, ordered in 5 minutes and downed the food in 30 all the while talking about JC and wanted to be back for his bath and bed time. Bought a small cake in another 3 minutes, now counting down to his bed time, and drove home in another 5. Long gone were the days when the two of us played dress up and went to San Fran for a nice long dinner, leisurely strolling the streets, had a couple of beers, and went to Starbucks for coffee and artsy film afterwards. The only thing didn't change is that we still share lots of laughs and silly jokes together, guess that wacky sense of humor is what holds the ties in all the hustle bustle of life.

I knew your birthday was one of these days this week. I think you were born the day that Charles Manson blew up Hiroshima.

Good memory. On this day, Charles Manson blew up Hiroshima while the Grateful Dead were touring there and Jerry Garcia died in the explosion. So basically August 9th is about the official end of the hippy era, world destruction, mass murder, and my birth.
