Cry baby

I have made a promise to Rick that I would start sleep training with JC when he turns 7 months, but after 5 minutes of JC crying his head off, I have declared defeat and retreated. If you are not a parent, you won't understand why it is so hard to watch a baby cry. He looked so pitiful with rivers of tears rolling down his cheeks, these are real tears, not just wailing, all the while, his big eyes were on mommy begging to be picked up, then he coughed like he was choking, his little face red, and his neck all sweaty. How on earth can you stand such a sight? The sleep expert said that we have to let him cry for at least 45 minutes to an hour in the first day of sleep training, but to me, I would rather die before I can let him cry that long. So I picked him up and nursed him, he made little animal sounds of relief and fell asleep within 2 minutes in my arms still with his face wet with tears.

Now we are worried about what he is going to do when we send him to day care next year, we only have 5 months before he learns to soothe himself to sleep. This is going to be a long 5 months, we will take baby steps one at a time. Wish us luck!

I'm with you Pam,I would also rather die than watch my baby (if I had one)cry and choke for 45 mins.

So, is there a no-cry way of sleep training? Anyone? - Desperate Pam
